Grammys Grammy Awards Alternative Gotye Fiona Apple Bjork Tom Waits music entertainment news 13579086

Our two music awards editors -- David Schnelwar and Darrin Dortch -- agree on the winner of Best Alternative Music Album at this Sunday's Grammys.

“The Idler Wheel…” - Fiona Apple
“Biophilia” - Bjork
“Making Mirrors” - Gotye -- David, Darrin
“Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming” - M83
“Bad As Me” - Tom Waits

David's analysis
A female artist has not won in this category since Sinead O’Connor did with “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got” in 1990. Therefore, it is not likely that either Bjork or Fiona Apple will win.

Gotye is the only artist with multiple nominations this year including Record of the Year.

Darrin's analysis
Gotye is the most nominated artist in this lineup so this’ll be his consolation prize for losing Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group.
