The big winner at Saturday's Independent Spirit Awards will be "Beasts of the Southern Wild," which is predicted to prevail with three of its four bids: Best Picture, Best Director (Benh Zeitlin) and Best Cinematography.
Gold Derby surveyed our experts and editors as well as hundred of users to predict these best in indie filmmaking. (Click here to see a breakdown by category of the winners and potential spoilers.)
The fourth bid by "Beast" is for Best Actress and breakout star Quvenzhane Wallis could play spoiler to rival Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings Playbook"). Of its four other bids, "Silver Linings" is also expected to win Best Screenplay.
Every actor submits only one sample episode, which will be judged by other actors (ranging from 25 to 75 per category jury) between July 28 and August 14. TV series submit six, which will be split into three pairs to be distributed randomly to about 300 voters. We now have uncovered every single title submitted for the 2014 races.
