Over 750 Gold Derby readers predicted the winners in 13 categories at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. In total, our Users logged over 9,000 predictions.

"Silver Linings Playbook" won top honors, upsetting "Beasts of the Southern Wild" to win Best Feature and Best Director (David O. Russell). Russell also won Best Screenplay, and Jennifer Lawrence won Best Female Lead. Lawrence is expected to repeat at the Oscars.

Many of our predictors were able to anticipate the event's surprises. An impressive 18 users correctly predicted 12 out of 13 races, scoring 93%: CCFILM, Deb0113, JonathanNunes, FedericoLuca, Coopster4, AndrewCunningham, WalkerSayen, Alan_Harris, JohnJohn, EdreiAlvarez, gatorfan, ChenheGuo, KyprosKyprianou, MichaelVazquez, RowanPilgrim, trebor76, JuanSalvador, and Gold Derby contributor Zach Laws.

They greatly outperformed our editors, who were led by Marcus Dixon and David Schnelwar with 10 out of 13 correct predictions (77%). Chris Beachum and Daniel Montgomery followed with nine out of 13 (70%). Darrin Dortch correctly picked eight winners (62%). Robert Licuria picked six (47%).

Our top-scoring expert, Susan Wloszczyna (USA Today), matched our top editors with 10 out of 13 correct predictions (77%).

Gold Derby's Tom O'Neil and Paul Sheehan followed with eight correct predictions (62%).

Three experts picked seven winners (54%): Matt Atchity (Rotten Tomatoes), Richard Horgan (Fishbowl LA), and Thom Geier (Entertainment Weekly).
