4 out of 6 Oscar pundits pick 'King's Speech' for Best Picture

"The King's Speech" is way ahead in the race for Best Picture, according to the latest batch of Oscarologists polled by Gold Derby: Tim Appelo (Hollywood Reporter), Michael Musto (Village Voice), Kevin Polowy (NextMovie), Keith Simanton (IMDB), Anne Thompson (Thompson on Hollywood, Indie Wire) and Susan Wloszczyna (USA Today), Four out of the six  believe it will rule: Appelo, Musto, Thompson and Wloszczyna. Altogether these experts favor it over "The Social Network" by a much wider margin than the first group of pundits we surveyed last week.

However, there's something odd about their views of the directors' derby. That race usually lines up with Best Picture, of course, but "King's Speech" helmer Tom Hooper is in the place position. Win spot: Danny Boyle ("127 Hours"). Show: David Fincher ("The Social Network").

All pundits believe Colin Firth ("The King's Speech") will reign as Best Actor. Annette Bening ("The Kids Are All Right") is the choice of five of our six pundits for Best Actress. Tomorrow Gold Derby will reveal their rankings for Best Supporting Actor and Actress. Meantime, check out the views of our first batch of pundits here. And see racetrack odds based upon their predix here.
