The contenders for Best Electronic/Dance Album at this year's Grammy Awards are, as usual, a mix of dance/pop favorites and club veterans. Since this category was created in 2004, it has been won by The Chemical Brothers twice as well as Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, Madonna and reigning champ Lady Gaga. Nominees have included an impressive list of heavyweights: The Crystal Method, David Guetta, Robyn, Moby, Kylie Minogue, LCD Soundsystem, Justice, Paul Oakenfold, Goldfrapp, Zero 7, Kraftwerk and The Prodigy.

This year's eligible submissions are relatively light on well-known hits from the past year -- Lady Gaga did not enter "The Fame Monster" for instance -- and many entries are generic compilations, a subgenre of dance music releases yet to earn a single nomination.

The likeliest contenders are "Further" from The Chemical Brothers; "La Roux" by British indie sensation (and possible Best New Artist nominee) La Roux; "Fleshtone" by Kelis (a previous Grammy nominee in the Urban/Alternative and Contemporary R&B Album categories); "Body Talk Part 1" (and "Part 2", which is less likely) by Robyn; and "LP4" by critically acclaimed New York electronic duo Ratatat. "

Other possibilities include "Head First" by previous nominee Goldfrap; "Kaleidoscope," the latest from DJ veteran Tiesto; "Black Light," the heralded latest offering from past contender Groove Armada; "Output," the latest from previous dance chart sensation Fedde Le Grand; "For Lack of a Better Name" by respected Canadian DJ Deadmau5 (aka producer Joel Thomas Zimmerman, Grammy nominated last year for Best Remixed Recording); "Black Noise" by German DJ/producer Pantha Du Prince; "Hands" by UK electropop singer Little Boots; "Immersion" by Australian dance outfit Pendulum; and "Streets of Gold" by US chart toppers 3OH!3.
