Reigning Emmy series champs "Modern Family" and "Mad Men" number among the top 10 TV achievements of the year as named by the American Film Institute Sunday. Also making the cut with the 13 members of the jury were the TV academy's choice for best TV movie -- "Temple Grandin" -- and "The Pacific," Emmy winner for best mini-series. Rounding out the list were three-time top comedy series "30 Rock," "Breaking Bad," "Glee" and four TV newcomers -- "The Big C," "Boardwalk Empire," "The Walking Dead."

The jury was chaired by producer Richard Frank and included AFI exec Bob Gazzale, academics Henry Jenkins, Anna McCarthy and Janet Staiger, ATAS chair John Shaffner, producer/writer Steven Bochco, producer/writer/director Marshall Herskovitz, actor/producer Jennifer Love Hewitt, and critics Mary McNamara, James Poniewozik, Matt Roush and Maureen Ryan.

These winners, along with those for the movie awards, will be feted during a Jan. 14 luncheon in Los Angeles at the Four Seasons Hotel.
