Oscars: Versus SAG Awards

Screen Actors Guild vs. Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences

The Screen Actors Guild and the Oscars are both peer group awards, but have different voting systems. Nominees for the SAG Awards are chosen by a committee of 2,100 of the guild's 120,000 members. All guild members may vote for the winners. At the Oscars, the four acting nominees are determined only by the 1,100 members of the academy's actors' branch. The winners are chosen by all 5,700 academy members.
