Emmy predictions battle: Anne Thompson vs. Pete Hammond vs. Tom O’Neil on Best Comedy Series
“I’m sticking with ‘Veep!'” Anne Thompson (Indiewire) asserts in our chat (see video above, hear audio podcast below) with Pete Hammond (Deadline), backing her prediction that “Veep” will win the Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series for a third year in a row.
“It just is the best,” she adds. “It’s the funniest — doesn’t matter who’s doing the show-running. It’s fantastically amusing and close to the truth in a way that is amazing.”
“I think ‘Atlanta’ comes in here someplace” in the top comedy categories, Hammond says, “but not in Best Comedy. I think it’s ‘Veep,’ too.”
If there’s a spoiler, Thompson warns: “‘Master of None’ is a sleeper candidate. It is funny and very popular and I see Netflix pushing that quite effectively.”
