Instant Reactions for 2017 Emmy Nominations from Gold Derby Editors

Gold Derby editors debate the OMG, WTF and HUH moments of the 2017 Emmy nominations. Who made it into the TV club and who was skunked? Tom O’Neil, Paul Sheehan, Chris Beachum, Daniel Montgomery and Marcus James Dixon provide instant reactions for our annual morning slugfest immediately following the Television Academy nominations.

Best Drama Series nominees are “Better Call Saul,” “The Crown,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “House of Cards,” “Stranger Things,” “This Is Us,” and “Westworld.” Best Comedy Series nominees are “Atlanta,” “Black-ish,” “Master of None,” “Modern Family,” “Silicon Valley,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” and “Veep.”

The 69th annual edition of these kudos will take place Sunday, September 17, at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles and will air live coast-to-coast on CBS. The network’s rising star of the “Late Show,” Stephen Colbert, will serve as Emmys host for the very first time. How do you think he’ll do? The 2017 Emmy Awards will be produced by White Cherry Entertainment, with Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner serving as executive producers, Weiss as the director, and Chris Licht as the producer.
