Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock among first Oscar presenters named

Among those onstage at the 83rd Academy Awards on Feb. 27 will be last year’s top acting champs Jeff Bridges (“Crazy Heart”) and Sandra Bullock (“The Blind Side”). Also set to be in the lineup are two other Oscar winners — Halle Berry (2001 Best Actress, “Monster’s Ball”) and Marisa Tomei (1992 Best Supporting Actress, “My Cousin Vinny”) — as well as one-time nominee Oprah Winfrey (Supporting Actress, “The Color Purple”).

Don Mischer and Bruce Cohen, who are producing their first Oscarcast, announced this first round of famous faces for the show Monday. Having the already-named James Franco and Anne Hathaway as co-hosts represents a generational shift for the Oscars. By bringing back past winners, the producers are showing a committment to tradition as well. However, notably missing from this list are last year’s supporting winners Mo’Nique (“Precious”) and Christoph Waltz (“Inglorious Basterds”).

Besides Franco, who is an almost-certain Best Actor nominee for “127 Hours,” Bridges is also a strong contender this year for another Best Actor bid for his performance in “True Grit.” And Berry hopes to make it into the Best Actress race for the late-entry “Frankie & Alice.”
