Blake Shelton to co-host ACMs with Reba McEntire

Blake Shelton was at the podium just once at last year’s Association of Country Music Awards when he won Vocal Event with Trace Adkins for “Hillbilly Bone.” This year, he will share emceeing duties with perennial solo host Reba McEntire. The two native Oklahomans will take to the stage of the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on April 3 as the ACMs are broadcast live on CBS.

Shelton was an obvious choice for the ACMs as he is managed by McEntire’s husband Narvel Blackstock. Last year, he joined her to announce the nominees and the banter between the two livened up this early morning chore.

For Shelton, “this is an incredibly special moment for me. I am humbled that Reba invited me to co-host the ACM Awards with her. She is not only a mentor to me but a true friend. She continually supports other artists, which is a testament really to her beauty and talent. You will definitely have to tune-in and check it out. With the two of us together on live TV, you never know what we might say!”

The pairing of the sassy McEntire and the sexy Shelton should make for a lively 46th edition of these awards. Rival country kudos — the CMAs — have enjoyed great success for three years running with co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood
