Emmy recordholder Edie Falco adds ‘cabaret singer’ to resume

Could Edie Falco one day win a Tony to join the four Emmys she already owns? The actress, who made Emmy history by winning Best Actress for both drama (“The Sopranos, 1999, 2001, 2003)  and comedy (“Nurse Jackie,” 2010)  series, is making her cabaret debut this weekend.

She and her “Nurse Jackie” co-star Stephen Wallem are previewing a new show, “The Other Steve and Edie” at off-Broadway’s Laurie Beechman Theater. Wallem and Falco, who came up with the idea, “will take on songs from contemporary pop to jazz standards, with a healthy dose of show tunes and original material, and even a salute to the other Steve and Eydie.”

Tony Humrichouser is directing while three-time After Dark Award winner Beckie Menzie is handling musical direction.
