Emmys give brush off to ‘Community,’ ‘Carlos’ and ‘The Voice’

For all of the welcome surprises at this year’s Emmy nominations, there were an equal number of egregious snubs. Every year it seems like the snubs are worse than the year prior. Is that the case this year?

Just like in 2010, cult comedy series “Community” was completely skunked. There wasn’t even an acting nod for Joel McHale, who many pundits and editors thought had a chance to break into a weakened Best Comedy Actor race. “Fringe” supporting player John Noble couldn’t get a nod, even after an online campaign and his recent win at the inaugural CCTA Awards.

Last year’s Best Drama Actress Emmy champ Kyra Sedgwick (“The Closer”) and this year’s Golden Globe winner Katey Sagal (“Sons of Anarchy”) both failed to reap bids in that race. “Carlos” may have been hailed by film critics as the top foreign-language flick but the TV academy denied it a nod in the Movie/Mini race.

NBC’s new smash hit “The Voice” couldn’t slide into the sixth slot in the expanded Reality-Competition Series race. We have catalogued the top dozen Emmy snubs in a new photo gallery. VIEW GALLERY
