First Look: Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte in ‘Luck’ [Video]

HBO has reteamed with producer/writer David Milch (“Deadwood”) for “Luck,” a drama series set in the world of horse racing. The pedigree of the project, including executive producer/director Michael Mann, convinced two-time Best Actor Oscar champ Dustin Hoffman (“Kramer vs. Kramer,” “Rain Man”) to make this his first regular TV gig.

The series, set to unspool in the fall, looks at all aspects of this competitive sport from jockeys and trainers, to owners and operators like the gambling goon played by Hoffman. Also along for the ride are a slew of other film folk including Oscar nominee Nick Nolte  as a trainer seeking redemption, three-time Oscar contender Joan Allen as a do-gooder and Michael Gambon (“Harry Potter”) as Hoffman’s bitter rival.
