Grammys going digital

While the main event of the the Grammy Awards may be the CBS telecast next Sunday, most of the prizes will be handed out in the hours preceding the 8 p.m. (ET) show. The recording academy has teamed up with You Tube to create a special channel that will feature highlights from this earlier ceremony.

This outlet, as well as the official website, will feature a feast of events in the three days leading up to the awards. Actor/comedian Ben Gleib, TV/Web personality Shira Lazar and veteran music journalist John Norris will host. The Grammys are promising video, photos, blogging, tweets and retweets, as well as official news reports and personalized updates.

Among the highlights will be the MusiCare tribute to Barbra Streisand on Friday, the Special Merits Awards ceremony honoring, amng other, Dame Julie Andrews and Dolly Parton on Saturday afternoon, and the Salute to Industry Icons saluting David Geffen on Saturday night. And on Sunday, there will be red carpet arrivals, backstage interviews, a press room feed, and after-party pics and video.
