Grammys Predictions: Best Rap Solo Performance

Our two music awards experts — David Schnelwar and Darrin Dortch — are previewing the top Grammys races beginning with the Rap field. They have already given their predictions for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Duo or Group and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and will be forecasting the rest of the races in the days to come.

“Over,” Drake
“Not Afraid,” Eminem
“How Low,” Ludacris
“I’m Back,” T.I.
“Power,” Kanye West

For David: Eminem is a lock to win Best Rap Solo Performance for the fourth time. Drake, Ludacris, T.I. and Kanye West are not likely to upset.

Darrin agrees: Eminem is a shoo-in to win this race with his #1 single that’s also a Best Rap Song nominee. Everyone else here is filler, including West, whose a favorite in the rap field. I’d personally vote for Drake or Kanye. “Not Afraid” is pretty boring and Drake and Kanye spit some of their best work over some insane beats.
