Last year, two-time Oscar champ Tom Hanks (“Philadelphia,” “Forrest Gump”) took to the stage of the TV Land Awards with the rest of the “Bosom Buddies” cast to accept an anniversary prize. This year, two-time Oscar nominee John Travolta (“Saturday Night Fever,” “Pulp Fiction”) will be on hand with the gang from “Welcome Back, Kotter.”
It is 35 years since Travolta became a teen idol as one of the misfits taught by Mr. Kotter (Gabe Kaplan) in this ABC laffer. While Kaplan’s attendance is not yet confirmed but his on-screen wife Marcia Strassman will be part of the tribute, as will two of Travolta’s fellow “sweathogs” — Lawrence Hilton Jacobs and Ron Pallilo.
This year’s awards take place on April 10 at New York’s Javits Center and air one week later on the cablecast. Previously announced honorees include Regis Philbin (Legend Award), “Family Ties” (Fan Favorite Award) and “The Cosby Show” (Impact Award).
