Terror alert: Harry Potter vs. ‘Twilight’ vampires – Who will win?

At each of the last three Teen Choice Awards, the “Twilight Saga” movies have looked just like vampires. Nothing could kill them as they sunk their teeth into every foe and amassed 19 of the surfboards handed out to the winners. However, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and gang may have met their ultimate rival in the new batch of nominees: Harry Potter.

Remember: Wooden stakes through the heart can slay a vampire and Harry’s got that sharp magic wand.

The looming release of the final film in the “Harry Potter” franchise — “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” — couldn’t come at a worse time for that pale-faced “Twilight” crowd. It’s whipping up Pottermania just as voting occurs for the new batch of Teen Choice Awards where “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1” is a fierce rival.

In the race for Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1” squares off against “Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” as well as “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” “X-Men: First Class” and “Super 8.” What do you think will prevail?

The films face off in other conflicts too. In the clash over Choice Movie Actor in the Sci Fi/Fantasy genre, Daniel Radcliffe takes on both Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner plus Ryan Reynolds (“Green Lantern”) and Johnny Depp (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”).
