The forum posters in the Gold Derby message boards at the L.A. Times’ Envelope have moved home – that is, they’ve returned to this website. On Friday, the Times shut down those forums and posted a redirect to Gold Derby where the boards were launched in 2000.
In 2005, the Times invited Gold Derby to join the creation of its own awards site TheEnvelope.com. This website shut down as a result, Gold Derby became a blog at LATimes.com and our message boards were moved temporarily to TheEnvelope. Now that GoldDerby.com has been relaunched, its forums have returned.
Posters are encouraged to register for a new account here and resume posting their passionate views on all things, Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and more. Bookmark this link to the new forums for easy access in the future. Note that a new registration empowers users to do more than just post comments. You can predict winners of the Oscars, Golden Globes and other awards and compete against experts and friends.
Gold Derby’s message boards are notorious because celebs and other Hollywood hotshots frequently admit that they lurk here to observe what our posters say about their award hopes. Sometimes, when they don’t like what they read, we hear about it – in stinging ways, like when Tina Fey blasted us hilariously while accepting a Golden Globe in 2009.
Many Hollywood hotshots fire back within these forums, posting comments while hiding behind cyber-nicknames – so, please be careful who you spare with while dishing with other Derbyites.
