Lady Gaga announced via Twiitter that her new single “Born This Way” will drop on Feb. 13 while the album of the same name is due out on May 23. That Sunday in February just happens to be the date of the Grammy Awards where Lady Gaga is contending in six races, including the coveted Album of the Year prize for “The Fame Monster.”
Last year, Lady Gaga won just two of her six bids — best electronic/dance album (“The Fame”) and best dance recording (“Poker Face”) — and lost in the general field for album, record and song of the year. She was denied a chance to contend for best new artist because she had received a nomination in 2009 for best dance recording (“Just Dance”).
Lady Gaga opened last year’s Grammys with an electrifying six-minute set that saw her sing “Poker Face” before duetting with Elton John on her hit “Speechless” and his classic “Your Song.”
