Jessica Lange, is your Emmy speech ready yet for ‘American Horror Story’?

The only question hanging over the race for Movie/Mini Supporting Actress is whether or not Jessica Lange will give a memorable acceptance speech, because according to Gold Derby polling the “American Horror Story” actress is the clear winner.

All 11 Experts, all nine Editors and nearly 500 Users have Lange in their #1 positions to take home her second career Emmy award. She previously won the Movie/Mini Actress race in 2009 for her role on “Grey Gardens.” If we’re all right, she will have a pair of Emmys on her mantel to match her two Oscars: Best Supporting Actress for “Tootsie” (1982) and Best Actress for “Blue Sky” (1994).

There really is no runner-up in this race, as the remaining four supporting ladies are all essentially tied for last: Sarah Paulson (“Game Change“), Judy Davis (“Page Eight“), Frances Conroy (“American Horror Story“) and Mare Winningham (“Hatfields and McCoys“). If any of these actresses beat Lange, it will be one of the biggest upsets on Emmy night.

Lange has already secured this year’s Golden Globe and SAG award for her role as Constance Langdon on the miniseries, so an Emmy would give her an impressive awards show three-peat. Besides Lange and Conroy, other nominees from the horror anthology series are Connie Britton (Movie/Mini Actress) and Denis O’Hare (Movie/Mini Supporting Actor).

The only possible factor going against Lange (and it’s extremely minor) is that “American Horror Storyfaces a bit of controversy at the Emmys this year. The series ruffled many Emmy watchers the wrong way by entering the Movie/Mini race as opposed to the Drama Series race. But that said, few voters will likely hold Lange at fault for decisions made by her producers.
