Bob Dylan releases his 35th album to mark a half century in the music business: “On March 19, 1962, Bob Dylan released his eponymous debut album on Columbia Records. Featuring largely folk standards and only two original songs, the record flew largely under the radar at the time of its release and it sold terribly, at least initially. Eleven Grammys, four Hall of Fame inductions (Rock and Roll, Grammy, Songwriters, and Nashville songwriters), an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a Pulitzer, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom later, Dylan has announced that to honor the 50th anniversary of his now landmark debut, he’ll release his 35th studio album. The LP will appropriately be called ‘Tempest’ and arrive September 11 via Columbia.” SPIN
The Producers Guild announces dates and deadlines for its 2013 awards. From the press release: “The 24th Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Brian Stokes Mitchell and Josh Groban among National Arts Awards recipients: “The Americans for the Arts has announced the recipients of its 2012 National Arts Awards. The nonprofit organization works to advance arts and arts education across the country. Paul G. Allen was recognized with the Philanthropy in the Arts Award. The founder and chairman of Vulcan Inc. has given more than $1.5 billion in his lifetime. This year is the last chance for Emmys for “House,” “Desperate Housewives,” and other shows that went off the air: “Thursday’s Emmy nominations will represent a final chance at glory for a couple members of the great TV class of 2004-05, as well as a number of other veteran shows that came to an end in the past year. One of those — ‘House’ — seems like a pretty safe bet to score at least a few nominations, but the rest may have a tougher go of it. What’s below is by no means a complete list of canceled shows going through their final Emmy campaigns. Tony- and Emmy-winner Diana Rigg will join “Game of Thrones” for season three: “HBO has confirmed some of the new cast members for the third season of the hit series ‘Game of Thrones,’ with many of the actors appearing in a video that was unveiled Friday, July 13 at Comic-Con 2012. Among the new actors is Diana Rigg who will portray Lady Olenna Tyrell.
