Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert lead CMT Music Awards nominations

Carrie Underwood picked up a leading five nominations for the 11th annual edition of the CMT Music Awards. (Full list of nominations here.)

Right behind with four bids is Miranda Lambert. Her nominations were divided evenly between solo efforts ans as part of the group Pistol Annies.

Crossover sensation Taylor Swift is among those artists with three bids. Other triple threats include Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton and Thompson Square.

Underwood reaped two of the 10 Video of the Year contenders: “Good Girl” and “Remind Me,” her duet with Brad Paisley. Lambert vies for this top prize with “Over You” while Swift contends for “Safe & Sound,” a collaboration with The Civil Wars that featured in “The Hunger Games.”

Underwood also contends for Female Video and Collaborative Video for these two songs as well as for CMT Performance. Lambert is up for Female Video and along with Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe (the other Pistol Annies) she is nominated for Group Video and Breakthrough Video for “Hell on Heels.”

The other Video of the Year nominees are: Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem,” Kenny Chesney’s “You and Tequila” with Grace Potter, Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup,” Lady Antebellum’s “We Owned the Night,” Rascal Flatts’ “Easy” with Natasha Bedingfield and Shelton’s “God Gave Me You.”

Voting for the awards begins online Monday and runs through June 4. The show will air live on CMT June 6 from Nasvhille.
