The four main broadcast webs rotate the Emmycast. Last year they were on Fox and presided over by Jane Lynch, one of the stars of that net’s “Glee.” She lost her bid for a second consecutive Comedy Supporting Actress Emmy.

In 2010, they were on NBC and Jimmy Fallon, the newly-minted host of the Peacock net’s “Late Night,” handled hosting. While his show did not contend, Fallon did win a Creative Arts Emmy for Best Creative Achievement in Interactive Media – Nonfiction.

In 2009, CBS showcased “How I Met Your Mother” funnyman Neil Patrick Harris. He lost the race for Supporting Comedy Actor and made merry with that during the kudocast. (In 2010, Harris went on to win both Comedy Guest Actor for “Glee” and a Special Class award as part of the Tony Awards team.)

The last time ABC had the Emmys was in 2008 when the five nominees in the new category of Best Reality Host — Tom BergeronHeidi KlumHowie MandelJeff ProbstRyan Seacrest — proved to be losers as emcees. However, one of them — Probst — did take home the first of four Emmys before being snubbed this year.
