You decide: Can any drama series stop ‘Mad Men’ from winning fifth consecutive Emmy?

Can any show keep “Mad Men” from winning a record fifth consecutive year as Best Drama Series?

A majority of our Experts and Editors predict victory for this AMC period piece as do an overwhelming number of our Users.

However, three of our Experts are backing the bid by Showtime’s freshman series “Homeland.”

Another two Experts as well as two Editors foresee victory for another AMC drama — “Breaking Bad” — which was on hiatus last year but contended in this top race in 2009 and 2010.

Of last year’s five also-rans, “Friday Night Lights” is no longer on the air. Two HBO sophomore series — “Boardwalk Empire” and “Game of Thrones” — are predicted to contend once again.

However, third time may not be the charm for CBS’s legal drama “The Good Wife” which could be bumped out by “Downton Abbey.” That PBS period piece won Best Miniseries last year but is contending as a drama series for its second season. Also likely to be MIA is Showtime’s “Dexter” which has lost four years in a row to “Mad Men.”
