Our Experts, Editors and Users are divided as to who will win Best Drama Supporting Actor at this year’s Emmys.
-INSERTS:31-
Four of our Experts and five Editors expect Peter Dinklage to win again for his role as the queen’s dutiful brother on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” If he prevails, he will be the first winner of this category to repeat since Ray Walston did for “Picket Fences” back in 1994 and 1995.
In second place is Giancarlo Esposito who has the backing of three Experts and three Editors for his work on AMC’s gripping “Breaking Bad.” His win would mark the first ever victory for an African-American in this category.
Three Experts foresee a win at last for four-time nominee John Slattery of “Mad Men.” As his character’s fortunes have declined on AMC’s period drama, the actor’s Emmy odds have risen.
Two of our Editors herald the return of 2010 champ Aaron Paul to the race as “Breaking Bad” is back after a year’s hiatus.
Two Tony champs — Mandy Patinkin (“Evita,” 1980 Featured Musical Actor) and Alan Cumming (“Cabaret,” 1998 Musical Actor) — are not likely to add Emmys to their collections for Showtime’s “Homeland” and CBS’ “The Good Wife” respectively.
