Katy Perry, ‘Harry Potter’ big winners at People’s Choice Awards

Katy Perry won five People’s Choice Awards Wednesday while the final installment in the “Harry Potter” franchise took four of these prizes decided by online voting. (See full list of winners here)

Perry, who skipped the ceremony at L.A.’s Nokia Theater following news of her split from hubby Russell Brand, won: Favorite Female Artist, Song (“E.T.”), Music Video (“Last Friday Night”), Tour Headliner, and TV Guest Star (“How I Met Your Mother”). 

The stars of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” were also absent to collect trophies for: Favorite Movie, Action Movie, Ensemble and Book Adaptation.

The 38th annual edition of this CBS staple hosted by Kaley Cuoco (“The Big Bang Theory”) also saw fan favorite Johnny Depp add two more trophies to his collection: his seventh Favorite Movie Actor award and Favorite Voice (“Rango”). While he was MIA, Emma Stone (“The Help”) was on hand to collect Favorite Movie Actress and Comic Actress.

Other film champs included: “Water for Elephants” (Drama) “Bridesmaids” (Comedy), Adam Sandler (Comedy Actor), Hugh Jackman (Action Star) and Morgan Freeman (Icon). 

The top TV comedies were “How I Met Your Mother” (Network) and “Hot in Cleveland” (Cable) while “Supernatural” and “Pretty Little Liars” won the drama series awards.

Neil Patrick Harris (“How I Met Your Mother“), who opened the show, claimed Comedy Actor and Lea Michele (“Glee”) won Comedy Actress. “Castle” star Nathan Fillion accepted Drama Actor and Crime Series while Nina Dobrev (“The Vampire Diaries“) repeated as Drama Actress.
