Aussie import Rebel Wilson (“Bridesmaids”) has been tapped to host the 22nd annual MTV Movie Awards on April 14. She will be the first woman to preside over this free-wheeling awardscast since Sarah Silverman back in 2007.
Wilson made a splash when she appeared at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, clad in just a hot pink bikini T-shirt and munching on potato chips, to present Best Female Video alongside Brit boy band The Wanted.
Below, the first promotional video for the kudocast, featuring Wilson and her mate Matt Lucas, the English funnyman who played her brother in “Bridesmaids.” The pair are now housemates in Hollywood.
Last year’s MTV Movie awards were emceeed by Russell Brand. “Twilight” fans showed their might when the fourth installment in the franchise — “Breaking Dawn: Part 1” — claimed Movie of the Year over “The Hunger Games.” Nominees had been chosen by a panel of experts, which snubbed past champs Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart for their performances. However, winners were still decided by popular vote and real-life sweethearts Pattinson and Stewart took Best Kiss for the fourth year in a row.
“The Hunger Games” still won four races, including popcorn buckets for stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson as well as Best Fight and Best Transformation (Elizabeth Banks). Johnny Depp was feted with the Generation Award while Emma Stone received the inaugural Trailblazer Award.
