Steve Pond (The Wrap) and Christopher Rosen (Moviefone) top Oscarologists

Of the 19 Experts who forecast Oscar nominations in 14 races, Steve Pond (The Wrap) and Christopher Rosen (Moviefone) were tops with 79% correct. The Gold Derby odds scored 78%.

Close behind at 77% were Tariq Khan (Fox News) and Anne Thompson (Thompson on Hollywood). And nipping at their heels with 76% right were Guy Lodge (In Contention) and Kevin Polowy (Next Movie).

Gold Derby executive editor Paul Sheehan scored 75%, Kevin Lewin (WENN) was at 73%, JD Cargill (CNN) got 72% and both Edward Douglas (Coming Soon) and Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) were at 71%.

Four pundits came in at 70% — Thelma Adams (Yahoo!), Sasha Stone (Awards Daily), Gold Derby founder Tom O’Neil and Dave White (

Susan Wloszczyna (USA Today)and Matt McDaniel (Yahoo! Movies) were at 68%, Elena Howe (Los Angeles Times) was at 65%, Keith Simanton (IMDB) scored 63% and Richard Rushfield (Daily Beast) got 62%.

Among our pundits who predicted fewer categories, Pete Hammond (Deadline) got 68% right in the 13 races he forecast.

Three pundits predicted 11 categories: Matt Atchity (Rotten Tomatoes) scored 75%, Sean O’Connell (Hollywood News) was at 70% and Jeff Wells (Hollywood Elsewhere) got 61%.

Michael Musto (Village Voice) forecast 10 categories and had a success rate of 71%. 

Three pundits predicted nine races: Mark Harris (Grantland) scored 78%, Dave Karger (Entertainment Weekly) got 74% and Chuck Walton (Fandango) came in at 70%. 

Kyle Buchan (Vulture) foresaw seven races and got 81%. 

And two pundits predicted six categories: S.T. VanAirsdale (Movieline) scored 80% while Bradley Jacobs (US Magazine) got 76%. 

All nine of our Editors predicted 14 categories: Chris Beachum scored 75%, Daniel Montgomery and Adam Waldowski were at 74%, Rob Licuria and Andrew Pickett got 73%, Darrin Dortch got 72%, both Matt Noble and David Schnelwar were at 70% and Marcus Dixon came in at 64%.
