Can One Direction win Pop/Rock Duo or Group at AMAs after 2012 defeat?

One Direction were nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Duo or Group at the American Music Awards last year, but lost to Maroon 5. However, despite two consecutive wins in the category the Adam Levine-fronted band isn’t in the running this year. Does that mean a sure victory for the British boy band? Maybe, maybe not.

Currently Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have the lead with 3/2 odds, based on strong support from our users. The hip-hop duo are the most nominated artists this year, with six bids.

But our editors aren’t so sure: while two are predicting Macklemore and Lewis, three are betting on One Direction, who are right behind with 17/10 odds. This year they’re also nominated for Pop/Rock Album for “Take Me Home.”

Our top 24 users are split down the middle, with 12 picking Macklemore and 12 picking One Direction.

Farther behind are Imagine Dragons, in last place with 7/2 odds, but even if they lose here they’ll get another chance in the Alternative Rock Artist race, where they’re the favorites to win.

Will Macklemore and Ryan Lewis prevail, or will One Direction snatch victory after last year’s defeat? Make your predictions below:
