Florida Georgia Line will overtake previous winners for Vocal Duo at CMAs

First-time CMA nominees Florida Georgia Line will also be first-time winners according to our predictors, who give them field-leading 3/10 odds to win Vocal Duo of the Year. But to do so they’ll have to get past a pair of previous victors.

Sugarland won this category for five consecutive years (2007-2011) before finally losing to Thompson Square in 2012. But this year Thompson Square ranks third with 12/1 odds, while Sugarland trails in fourth with 25/1 odds.

If anyone beats Florida Georgia Line it will more likely be The Civil Wars, whom our predictors place second with 10/1 odds. But a win for them might very well be their last; the duo announced an indefinite hiatus late in 2012 due to “irreconcilable differences.” Despite the discord, their self-titled second album was released to critical acclaim and strong record sales this past August.

The two remaining nominees are unlikely to threaten: Love and Theft and Big and Rich are fifth and sixth, respectively, with 100/1 odds each.
