More Emmys experts make predictions: ‘Big Bang,’ ‘Breaking Bad’ …

Four more experts have chimed in with their Emmy predictions: Debra Birnbaum (TV Guide Magazine), Lynette Rice (Entertainment Weekly), Mike Cidoni (Associated Press), and Ken Tucker.

Two of them — Rice and Cidoni — are betting on an upset victory for “The Big Bang Theory” as Best Comedy. The top-rated comedy, which recently finished its sixth season on CBS, is nominated for the third time in the category, but only ranks fourth in our overall odds.

Two — Birnbaum and Cidoni — are also predicting a changing of the guard in the race for Best Drama, where they bet on “Breaking Bad” to win for the first time for its fifth season. The acclaimed AMC series begins airing its final eight episodes in August.

But Rice disagrees, instead picking “Game of Thrones” to win top honors for its third season. The HBO drama leads all TV series with 16 total nominations this year. While “Breaking Bad” leads our racetrack odds, “Thrones” is an underdog in third place.

Among other upsets predicted by our experts, Rice picks Kerry Washington to win Drama Actress for “Scandal” as well as Movie/Miniseries acting wins for Elisabeth Moss (“Top of the Lake“) and John Benjamin Hickey (“The Big C: Hereafter“), while Tucker expects Sofia Vergara and Ed O’Neill to win their first acting honors for “Modern Family.”
