Matthew McConaughey favored in close LA critics race for Best Actor

Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave“) and Robert Redford (“All is Lost“) keep swapping the lead in the Best Actor Oscar race, but it’s Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club“) who is tipped to win the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award. Playing AIDS-sufferer Ron Woodroof, McConaughey leads our current predictions with 11/10 odds.

But the race may not be so easy to call. Ejiofor also has strong support from our predictors: though he trails with users and top users, he’s tied with McConaughey in our editors‘ predictions, giving him overall odds of 9/4.

Redford is farther behind with 9/1 odds. Only one editor and one top user pick him to win, and he’s supported by 10% of all users.

Bruce Dern (“Nebraska“) follows in fourth place with 16/1 odds, while Joaquin Phoenix (“Her“) is in fifth with 25/1 odds.

Leonardo DiCaprio (“The Wolf of Wall Street“) and Forest Whitaker (“The Butler“) are only predicted by two users apiece, giving them 100/1 odds.
