Macklemore & Ryan Lewis score six AMA nominations, Justin Bieber snubbed

Red-hot duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis reaped a leading six nominations for this year’s edition of the American Music Awards, including a bid for Artist of the Year.

Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake followed with five bids apiece, including for Artist of the Year. Swift won this top prize in 2009 and 2011 while Timberlake has never contended for that award. That race is rounded out by four-time nominee Rihanna and three-time contender Bruno Mars. (See complete list of nominations here.)

Justin Bieber — who won Artist of the Year in both 2010 and 2012 — was snubbed by these kudos, which determine nominees “based on key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, streaming and social activity.”

Others with multiple bids include Florida Georgia Line and Robin Thicke with four apiece and Imagine Dragons with three.

Winners will be determined by online voting, which is now open. The 41st annual kudocast airs live on ABC on Nov. 24 from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
