Our Experts are divided as to who will win the Golden Globe for Comedy/Musical Actress.
Four favor the chances of Emmy darling Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Enough Said“). The TV star holds the record for most Emmy nominations by a funny woman with 14 bids and is the only series regular to win Emmys for three different laffers. However, she has contended at the Golden Globes just four times, winning her first race in 1994 in the catch-all supporting category for “Seinfeld.” While she took home Emmys for both “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and “Veep,” she lost her sole Globe bids for both these shows.
And four of them expect Meryl Streep (“August: Osage County“) to extend her record at these kudos with a jaw-dropping ninth win. Of her eight previous victories, two of them came in this category: “The Devil Wears Prada” (2006) and “Julie & Julia” (2009).
While the two women are tied for first place, Louis-Dreyfus has a slight edge in the odds (9 to 4 versus 12 to 5) because she is ranked higher on the lists of those experts who don’t have her in first place than is Streep. See the Experts’ latest rankings here.
