NBC nets score 23 Sports Emmys

The networks under the NBC Sports Group umbrella — NBC, NBC Sports Network, Golf Channel nbcolympics.com, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, nbcsports.com and Telemundo — won 23 Sports Emmys on Tuesday night.

The main network accounted for 10 of those trophies, including five for its blanket coverage of last summer’s Olympics in London. And ratings champ “Sunday Night Football” won Best Live Sports Series for the fifth year running. The newly named NBC Sports Network, formerly Versus, won four awards. (The full list of winners is here.)

Turner Sports (TNT, TBS, NBA TV, NCAA.com & truTV) won seven awards while HBO Sports prevailed in six races, including two wins for “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.” That talker has taken 25 Emmys home since it debuted in 1995.

The ESPN family of channels (ESPN, ESPN2, grantland.com, ABC, ESPN3D, ESPNU & ESPNews), claimed just five Emmys, despite 43 nominations.

Nominees topped 170 in 34 categories. The 34th annual edition of these kudos was held at Gotham’s Rose Hall in Lincoln Center.
