Hundreds of our readers predicted the winners in all 26 categories at the Tony Awards. In total, they logged over 2,300 predictions.

Despite some of the surprises and snubs, two of our users — Max and rickgoodwin — correctly predicted 77% of the winners and outpaced all our experts and editors. They were among the 13 users who predicted that upset by Tracy Letts (“Who’s Afraid of Viriginia Woolf”) over Tom Hanks (“Lucky Guy”) for Best Actor (Play). 

Among our editors Daniel Montgomery got 66% while Chris Beachum was at 50% and David Schnelwar scored 47%. 

Our savviest experts were Harry Haun (Playbill), Brian Lipton (Theatermania), Tom O’Neil (Gold Derby) and Wayman Wong (NY Daily News) who all got 74%. 

Right behind them was Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby) with 70% followed by David Sheward (Theater Life) at 66%.

Two of our experts — Thom Geier (EW) and  Andy Humm (Gay USA) — scored 62% while another pair — Susan Haskins (Theater Talk) and Doug Strassler (NY Press) — came in at 58%. 

Michael Musto was at 54%, Melissa Bernardo (EW) got 47%, Martin Denton (NY Theatre) scored 38% and Mark Shenton (Sunday Express) earned 35%.

Matt Windman (amNY) predicted 16 categories and scored 38%.
