We only offered four film categories for anyone to predict. The toughest turned out to be Drama Film Editing, with only 17 total Users (3%) correctly choosing “Captain Phillips.” It defeated both films seen as frontrunners for Oscar’s Best Picture: “Gravity” and “12 Years a Slave.”

Almost everyone picked the right winners for Comedy Musical Film Editing (“American Hustle“), Animation Film Editing (“Frozen“), and Documentary Film Editing (“20 Feet from Stardom“).

Five of our six Editors — David Schnelwar, Marcus Dixon, Rob Licuria, Daniel Montgomery, and myself — scored with 75% correct. Matt Noble had 50% accurate.

Five of six Experts tied with the top Editors at 75%: Matt Atchity (Rotten Tomatoes), Tariq Khan (Fox News), Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby), Sasha Stone (Awards Daily), and Anne Thompson (Thompson on Hollywood). Edward Douglas (Coming Soon) and Gold Derby’s Tom O’Neil finished with 50% correct.

Collectively, the Editors (71%) topped the Experts (68%) and Users (64%).
