Dear ‘AHS: Freak Show,’ this year for Christmas, Gold Derby wishes for …

1. No more ghosts.
From the outset, “Freak Show” had the distinction of being the only “American Horror Story” season to not embrace the supernatural. “Murder House” had ghosts, “Asylum” had aliens and demonic possessions, “Coven” had witches and zombies. During “Freak Show’s” Halloween episodes, that all went awry when the traveling spirit of Edward Mordrake (Wes Bentley) came to town. Since then, we’ve also seen the ghostly visage of Ethel Darling (Kathy Bates). Let’s be real, the “AHS” franchise doesn’t need otherwordly phenomenon to give us goosebumps, just ask Twisty the Clown (John Carroll Lynch).

2. Dandy needs to join the freak show.
This season’s breakout character is without a doubt Dandy Mott (Finn Wittrock). Watch our webchat with Wittrock below. While we want to see much more of this deranged serial killer-in-training, it’s imperative that the writers find a way for Dandy to leave the confines of his own home and join up with the main characters in the freak show. Admit it, being off on his own separate storyline all these weeks isn’t really working.

3. What happened to Elsa singing?
Love it or hate it, one of the things that makes “Freak Show” so original is the fact that many of its characters, including most notably Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange), belt out classic tunes in “Glee“-like production numbers. Elsa sang “Life on Mars” in the first episode, “Gods and Monsters” in the third and “September Song” in the sixth, but hasn’t crooned since. With impressive iTunes sales for these singles, it’s a mystery why Ryan Murphy doesn’t have Elsa sing every week. Without being greedy, can we at least have one more Lange solo before season’s end?

4. More focus on the freaks.
Last week’s episode, titled “Orphans,” proved that there are wonderful stories to be told regarding the show’s underrated freaks. By revealing how Pepper, Salty and Ma Petite all came to the freak show, it fleshed out these characters and made them more than one-dimensional shells.

5. Keep the deaths coming.
In the past few weeks we’ve seen the deaths of Ma Petite, Ethel, Gloria Mott (Frances Conroy), Regina Ross (Gabourey Sidibe) and now Salty. Talk about a bloodbath! More please.

6. Sarah Paulson should drop down to supporting.
After trying her luck in the Movie/Miniseries Lead Actress race at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, Sarah Paulson was crudely snubbed at both kudos. FX, let that be a lesson to you that awards voters don’t think Paulson should be campaigning in the lead category for “Freak Show” (as she did for “Coven” last year). Please submit her in the supporting race at the upcoming Emmys. She could even win there for her dual roles as Bette and Dot Tattler.

Every time someone logs their predictions, the racetrack odds of the contestants are automatically updated. If the majority of users think Dandy will die, that means he’ll have the best odds and will go to the front of the pack. Conversely, the characters who don’t receive many votes have the worst odds and will go to the bottom of the pile.

The standard bet for each question is 100 points, which are wagered against the odds you locked in when you saved your predictions. However, for each TV episode you are given one special 200 point bet that you can use strategically to gain more points.
