The Bachelorette” began its 10th season Monday night. Our predictions will open in two weeks, but star Andi Dorfman has already sent home six men: five who were selected for the competition, and one party-crasher who tried to charm his way onto the show.

Andi withdrew from season 18 of “The Bachelor” after an unpleasant episode-nine date with the much-maligned Juan Pablo Galavis, and now it’s her turn to select from more than two dozen rivals for her affection.

But Chris Bukowski was sent packing well before the rose ceremony. Bukowski, a “Bachelorette” contestant from season eight, showed up with roses in hand, much to the surprise of Dorfman, host Chris Harrison, and security. She never met with the party-crasher, but politely sent him on his way, arguing that including him would be unfair to the 25 legitimate contestants, but a restraining order might also have been on her mind.

The other five fellows who left without a rose after the first night were:

Emil, 33, a helicopter pilot from Costa Mesa, CA
Jason, 35, an urgent care physician from Sturgeon Bay, WI
Josh B., 29, a telecommunication marketer from Denver, CO
Mike, 29, a bartender from Alta, UT
Rudie, 31, an attorney from Long Beach, CA

Josh B. was especially irate upon his ouster, claiming that he joined the show at the urging of a friend and cursed a blue streak in his exit interview. That leaves 20 suitors still in contention:

Andrew, 30, a social media marketer from Culver City, CA
Bradley, 32, an opera singer from Holland, MI
Brett, 29, a hairstylist from Westminster, PA
Brian, 27, a basketball coach from Camp Hill, PA
Carl, 30, a firefighter from Fort Lauderdale, FL
Chris, 32, a farmer from Arlington, IA
Cody, 28, a personal trainer from Chicago, IL
Craig, 29, a tax accountant from Denver, CO
Dylan, 26, an accountant from Boston, MA
Eric, 31, an explorer from Citrus Heights, CA
J J, 30, a pantsapreneur from San Francisco, CA
Josh B., 29, a telecommunication marketer from Denver, CO
Josh M., 29, a former professional baseball player from Atlanta, GA
Marcus, 25, a sports medicine manager from Dallas, TX
Marquel, 26, a sponsorship salesman from Las Vegas, NV
Nick S., 27, a professional golfer from Kissimmee, FL
Nick V., 33, a software sales executive from Chicago, IL
Patrick, 29, an advertising executive from Newport Beach, CA

An early frontrunner may be Nick V., who charmed Andi with his shy sincerity; she gave him a first-impression rose before the rose ceremony.

The night was otherwise full of the usual flirtations and early jockeying for position, but it began on a solemn note: Eric Hill, who was among the 20 men still in contention after the first night, died in April in a paragliding accident after the season had finished taping. He was 31.

Host Harrison opened the show by dedicating the season to Hill’s memory, and during his moments with Andi in the premiere episode, the avowed world traveler expressed a desire to span the globe. How far he advanced in the competition is yet to be seen.

Despite that tragic turn of events, will “The Bachelorette” yield the happy ending for Andi that eluded her on “The Bachelor”? Comment below, and discuss the season premiere in our forums.
