Beyonce vs. Iggy Azalea: Best Female Video at MTV VMAs is a dead heat

We aren’t sure exactly what will happen at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards when fans decide the winner of Best Female Video. According to our odds, the race is too close to call between Beyonce‘s “Partition” and newcomer Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy.”

MTV VMAs to honor Beyonce with Vanguard Award

Fancy” has a very narrow lead, getting 13/5 odds. The “Clueless”-inspired video is nominated for four awards overall, including Video of the Year, and it has been a blockbuster hit this summer, spending seven weeks on top of Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart.

But Beyonce, recently announced as the recipient of the Video Vanguard Award, is a legend at the VMAs, with eight nominations this year and a strong track record in the Female Video race. She has won it twice (for “Crazy in Love” in 2003 and “Naughty Girl” in 2004) out of seven previous nominations. Only Madonna has more nominations and wins. This year, Beyonce contends for “Partition” and ranks a close second with 3/1 odds.

Recent Grammy-winner Lorde ranks third with 9/2 odds for “Royals.” This is the first year in contention for the 17-year-old New Zealander. She’s also nominate for Best Rock Video.

Iggy Azalea has another chance to win this category thanks to “Problem,” her collaboration with Ariana Grande, which ranks fourth with 5/1 odds.

Poor Katy Perry may be out of luck yet again. With six nominations in the last seven years, she has the most bids in this category without a win. This year, she contends for “Dark Horse” and ranks fifth in our predictions with 15/2 odds.
