Watch: Bill Maher mentions Conan/Leno feud during TV Hall of Fame induction

Emmy’s biggest loser Bill Maher managed to make a few headlines of his own while inducting the guy who gave us years of “Headlines.”

Maher was tasked with the honor of inducting Jay Leno into the prestigious TV Academy’s Hall of Fame Tuesday night in Beverly Hills and couldn’t resist bringing up the infamous Jay Leno/Conan O’Brien “Tonight Show” feud from 2009.

INSERTGROUPS:18-“Jay has had some bad publicity over the years, but I can’t think of any time whenever he has earned any bad publicity,” Maher said.

“Of course the most famous time was — was it 2009, I guess? — when somehow America had got it into its head that Jay Leno had stolen Conan O’Brien’s dream. Remember this? This is what the media said, because that’s what Conan said: ‘He stole my dream.’ And the media followed suit and wrote that and everyone believed that. And I think, this is just the most hysterical thought I’ve ever heard in a business that’s known for bull****.”

Accepting the TV Hall of Fame trophy, Leno joked, “Finally a Hall of Fame that doesn’t involve a drug test.”

Leno reminisced about his career and his beautiful wife and had nothing but high praise for new “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon. “I am so thrilled and so happy to watch Jimmy Fallon do as good as he did. I mean, he’s just doing a wonderful job and we talk once or twice a week. I couldn’t be happier for him.”
