Rather than being an overt hero, actor Colin Hanks plays a reluctant police officer on the new FX miniseries “Fargo.” We will ask him about that challenging role when he joins us for a live chat this Wednesday, May 21, at 12:00 p.m. PT/ 3:00 p.m. ET on Gold Derby’s home page.
The hit series is based in part on the Oscar-winning film of the same name from Joel and Ethan Coen (who serve as executive producers). Hanks plays Gus Grimley, a single father who happens on the evil Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) late one night. After several murders in a nearby small town in Minnesota, he teams with a deputy (Allison Tolman) to solve the mystery.
The 10 episodes are midway through airing and are already a frontrunner at this year’s Emmys for Best TV Miniseries and should claim several acting slots. The cast also includes Martin Freeman, Keith Carradine, Bob Odenkirk, and Oliver Platt.
Hanks, who has followed in the footsteps of his two-time Oscar-winning father Tom Hanks, counts among his other TV roles appearances on “Roswell,” “Band of Brothers,” “Mad Men,” and “Dexter.” Notable films include”Orange County,” “King Kong,” “The Great Buck Howard,” and “Parkland.”
