The MTV Movie Awards have lined up late night talk show host Conan O’Brien (“Conan”) to host this year. The 23rd annual edition of these kudos will take place on Sunday April 12 at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles and will air across the MTV family of channels live at 9 pm ET, with a tape delay for the West coast.
In a statement, the wry guy said, ““After eight years of intense negations, I am honored to announce I am hosting MTV’s second-most prestigious awards show.” Watch him tease his talents at emceeing in the video below.
Nominations will be announced this Thursday (March 6).
Last year’s awardscast was emceed by Aussie import Rebel Wilson, who didn’t go away empty handed. She was awarded Best Breakthrough Performance for her role in the musical comedy “Pitch Perfect” and also shared the Best Musical Moment prize as part of the film’s a cappella ensemble. “The Avengers” won Best Movie. In addition, the Joss Whedon-directed superhero film won Best Fight for an epic battle between the title heroes and their nemesis, Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Hiddleston also won Best Villain for the role, beating frontrunner Leonardo DiCaprio (“Django Unchained“).
