‘Dancing with the Stars’ preview: Another shocking elimination on ‘Party Anthem Night’?

Last week’s ouster of pop singer Cody Simpson proved that no one is safe on “Dancing With the Stars.” He received solid scores from the judges, but despite a passionate teen fan base he didn’t get enough votes from viewers at home. Will there be another shocking elimination tonight?

‘DWTS’ Disney Night recap: Meryl Davis dethroned, Cody Simpson sent home

While other contestants sweat it out, James Maslow needn’t worry. The judges gave him the first perfect 40 of the season, and though most of our readers disagreed with that score, it was enough to put him at the top of the leaderboard. Close behind were Danica McKellar (39), Amy Purdy (37), and Charlie White (37).

Could frontrunner Meryl Davis be at risk? She finished in the bottom half of scorers for the first time this season, despite straight 9s from the judging panel, for a total of 36. That tied her with NeNe Leakes and placed her just ahead of Candace Cameron Bure (35) and Drew Carey (28).

That means Davis has even less of a buffer at the bottom of the standings than Simpson did when he was eliminated.

‘DWTS’ cliffhanger: Uh-oh, is Meryl Davis at risk of elimination?

Despite the upheaval in the judges’ scores, however, our users still expect Davis to win the mirror ball trophy at the end of the season, giving her 4/9 odds, followed by McKellar (5/1), White (6/1), and Maslow (6/1).

It’s Leakes who is expected to get the boot this week. She gets 5/4 odds to be eliminated, followed very closely by lowest scorer Carey with 13/10 odds. Cameron Bure, who had the lowest scores going into last week’s show but lived to dance another day, has 11/2 odds of elimination.
