Who has best Younger Actor reel at Daytime Emmys? Forum posters are predicting …

The 2014 Daytime Emmy acting reels are being made available for public viewing online. The roundup of episode submissions began with Best Younger Actor on May 16. The nominees are as follows (click each actor’s name to see my complete analysis of his episode):

Daytime Emmy reactions roundup: ‘All your misdeeds are now forgiven!’

Bryan Craig, “General Hospital”
Chad Duell, “General Hospital”
Max Ehrich, “The Young and the Restless”
Chandler Massey, “Days of Our Lives”
Daniel Polo, “The Young and the Restless”

A strong case could be made for any of the five: Bryan Craig and Chad Duell have the most screentime and impact, Max Ehrich has a compelling two-hander with co-star Tracey E. Bregman, Daniel Polo has a resonant bullying storyline, and defending champ Chandler Massey has the most tearful emotion.

The two “GH” actors might have the edge, with Duell having a slight advantage over Craig thanks to his strong scenes on Craig’s reel. But our savvy forum posters might change my mind:

GHFan: “Excellent performance [from Craig]! From beginning to end, I thought he showed a great range and really made me feel all of the emotions that he was trying to portray as he rips into Sonny and Michael.”

eastwest: “Max Ehrich has the best reel here and should win. He plays vulnerable really well and has a great screen partner in Tracey E. Bregman (who was robbed of a Supporting Actress nomination).”

youngsoapfan: “I am predicting Chad Duell for the win, solely because he is overdue, and Chandler Massey and he actually should have tied the first year that Chandler won.”

Kevin: “I wouldn’t be surprised if Chandler Massey wins, because [the Daytime Emmys] love repeats and they might want to show him support, but Duell has the better performance(s).”
