Daytime Emmy reels: Best Actress nominee Katherine Kelly Lang (‘B&B’) unlucky in love yet again

The Daytime Emmy reels for Best Actress are available for viewing online. I’ve watched all four. After more than two decades without accolades, Katherine Kelly Lang (“The Bold and the Beautiful“) is nominated for the second year in a row. Will this be her time to shine?

Watch her rivals’ reels:
Eileen Davidson, Heather Tom, and Arianne Zucker

Length of Reel: 13:32

Synopsis: After a near-death experience, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) puts his life in perspective and realizes that he must leave Brooke (Lang) to reunite with her sister. Brooke then accuses Bill of using her.

Analysis: Between her and her co-star Heather Tom‘s submissions, Lang has the benefit of two halves of a story arc. In Tom’s reel, Katie lashes out at Brooke and Bill for their affair, and now we see poor Brooke abandoned by Bill, who is ready to return to Katie.

We’re moved by Lang as she realizes she has destroyed her relationship with her sister only to be cast aside, and Lang has the most screentime in the category — especially when you factor in her performance in Tom’s reel — but will it be enough against the showier emotionality of Tom and Eileen Davidson (“Days of Our Lives“).
