Eminem poised to set new record at VMAs as biggest Hip-Hop Video winner

MTV has spread the wealth in the Hip-Hop Video race since creating the category in 1999. Only three artists have won it twice: OutKast, Missy Elliott, and Eminem. But this year, it looks like Eminem will stand alone, because our predictors give him field-leading 17/10 odds to win it for a third time, for his video “Berzerk.”

Predict who will win VMA professional categories: Eminem, Beyonce are top contenders

But there’s another previous winner who hopes to repeat. Drake, who won in 2012 for “HYFR,” is nominated for “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and ranks second with 13/5 odds to join the double-winners club. But the last time he and Eminem went head-to-head, in 2010, Eminem won.

Kanye West ranks third with 6/1 odds for “Black Skinhead.” He holds the record for the most nominations in this category – this is his 10th bid – which makes it all the more surprising that he has never won it.

Childish Gambino, the alter ego of former “Community” actor Donald Glover, is nominated for the second time, having previously competed in 2012 for “Heartbeat.” This year he contends with “3005,” which our predictors rank fourth with 8/1 odds.

Rounding out the category is Wiz Khalifa‘s “We Dem Boyz.” This is his first nomination in the category. He’s fifth in our predictions with 10/1 odds.
