Gold Derby’s Paul Sheehan is best Emmy expert, tied as best overall predictor

Gold Derby polled 14 Emmy experts for their predictions, and the top scorer among them was one of our own: Paul Sheehan, who not only had the highest score among experts but tied three users with the best score among all predictors.

Sheehan scored 66%, which included correct predictions of Jim Parsons‘s record-tying Comedy Actor win for “The Big Bang Theory” and all four guest acting races at last week’s Creative Arts Awards.

Close behind Sheehan was Joyce Eng (TV Guide) with 59%. Robert Bianco (USA Today), Steve Pond (The Wrap), and Glenn Whipp (LA Times) were next with 56%.

Ken Tucker predicted with 52% accuracy, while five others scored 49%: Matthew Jacobs (Huffington Post), Lynn Elber (Associated Press), Scott Feinberg (Hollywood Reporter), Anne Thompson (Thompson on Hollywood), and Gold Derby’s Tom O’Neil.

Matt Roush (TV Guide) was correct 45% of the time, and Mike Cidoni (Associated Press) and Lynette Rice (People) finished with 42%.

Overall, the experts had the best predictions, averaging 52%. Editors were next with 48%, followed by users with 43%.
