Lynn Elber (AP) predicts repeat Emmys for ‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘Modern Family’

AP scribe Lynn Elber just logged her Emmy predictions at Gold Derby. She foresees many of last year’s champs repeating this year including both “Breaking Bad” and “Modern Family.”

She also expects three of the regular cast from “Breaking Bad” to win one last time at the Emmys: leading man Bryan Cranston and supporting players Anna Gunn and Aaron Paul. However, she predicts that “House of Cards” star Robin Wright will keep Claire Danes (“Homeland“) from pulling off a three-peat in Drama Actress.

Elber is predicting that Robert Morse will break the Emmy curse that has befallen the “Mad Men” cast and win Guest Drama Actor for his final appearance on this period drama. And she foresees it being a good night for four-time Emmy champ Allison Janney with wins for her guest turn on “Masters of Sex” and her regular featured role on the laffer “Mom.”

She also expects Julia Louis-Dreyfus to make it three in a row for her starring role on the comedy “Veep” and Jim Parsons to take home his fourth Emmy for “The Big Bang Theory,” which should also net a bookend for guest star Bob Newhart. And Ty Burrell should pick up his second Emmy for his featured role on “Modern Family.”
